Removing the inlay back ground first time.
The inlay is cut for the second time.
The inlay back ground is removed for the second time.
Here the inlay areas are under cut and given tiny hooks to hold in the gold. With out these the gold would just pop out.
The gold is installed into the inlay areas. It has to be packed into the undercuts and hooks shown above.
The excess gold is removed and made flush with the surface.
